Public Relaunch of Worship Gatherings
Dear EPBC family: We have some great—and much-anticipated—news to share with you: that Lord willing, we plan to re-launch our public ministry gatherings on Sunday, July 5, 2020 (service times: 9:00am and 11:00am). Thank you so much for praying for us as we meet to discuss these very important matters. We hope that you are as excited about this as we are!
Now, in saying that, we don’t want to give any false hopes or misty illusions about what you should expect. Unfortunately, things will not look or feel exactly as they did before the lockdown and isolation period. Moreover, this is going to take a cooperative and coordinated effort if this is going to be as safe and successful as everyone hopes.
Please be assured, this was a very carefully weighed decision. We wanted to take every precautionary measure that we could in order to ensure a safe environment—while at the same time—present a friendly, welcoming, and meaningful public worship experience for everyone who attends. [Pastor Bryce shared an excellent article with me, published by the Gospel Coalition, which may also be a meaningful resource for you: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/church-dont-let-coronavirus-divide/ as you prepare to join the rest of the body for worship. I recommend its reading.]
Briefly, here is a list of the kinds of things to keep in mind, as we prepare to gather:
The sanctuary, foyer, and CE wing will be set up for families, couples, and individuals who wish to attend. Each person attending will be asked to include their name on the attendance roll [this measure is required by Alberta Health Services (AHS), and will be stored for 14 days, in the case that an outbreak of COVID-19 occurs].
Hygiene, sanitization, and physical distancing protocols must be maintained. However, we do want to provide opportunities for genuine encouragement, fellowship and worship, as space permits.
Masks will be provided for each attendee, should they wish to wear one. If you already have your own mask, you may don and doff it as you please. [Please be aware, this requirement may change, of course, as there is currently a movement to have masks worn in all public places.]
We apologize, but for now, there will be no children’s program available (Sunday School, Jr. Church, supervised nursery), as well as no bulletins, handouts, or refreshments being served.
Lastly, those who feel unwell, are particularly susceptible to the risk of COVID infection, or are uncomfortable with gathering publicly, should not attend. We will do our best to livestream the service on Sunday, for your enjoyment at home (also, it will be accessible in the weekly archived files, in case you miss it).
